Transit of Venus

Once in a Life time. What a neat thing to witness. The Transit of Venus  is, when the planet Venus appears as a small, dark disk moving across the face of the Sun.. Transits of Venus are among the rarest of predictable celestial phenomena and occurs in pairs, eight years apart, which are themselves separated by more than a century. The previous transit of Venus took place on 8 June 2004 (preceded by the pair of appearances on 9 December 1874 and 6 December 1882), and the next pair of transits will occur in December 2117 and in December 2125.
We made a day of it. I heard that Waikiki was doing an exhibit on the beach and was giving out free shades used to look through to see Venus pass over the sun, we took them around with us all day. We went to the Zoo and then we  went to the beach and watched the progression of the planet all day. It was so neat to see people everywhere looking up into the sky.
